STRATEGY

“The Plan”

We are currently creating a strategic plan of approach with multiple angles for transparent engagement. Below is a tentative plan design that is subject to change with increased residential input and suggestions.

Phase 1: Clarify the Technical Narrative

Objective: Solidify public understanding of hydrological instability and infrastructure implications.

  • Create accessible visuals (e.g. annotated elevation schematics and rainfall overlays)

  • Develop a concise historical timeline showing shifts in lake level management and policy

  • Draft a technical memo outlining back pressure, subsurface threats, and regulatory gaps

Phase 2: Amplify Public Awareness

Objective: Raise visibility of risks and invite informed participation.

  • Launch a community-facing summary with simplified language and illustrations

  • Host informal info sessions or neighborhood Q&As at accessible venues

  • Coordinate with local press or newsletters for broader dissemination

Phase 3: Present the Offer to Residents

Objective: Empower residents with tools to advocate for safety and responsible governance.

 Public Offer Draft (Example)

"We’re offering a clear path forward—grounded in data, community impact, and shared responsibility. If you're concerned about the subsurface compression risks, inconsistent elevation management, or the fiscal impact of proposed developments like The Sanctuary, we invite you to join us.

Together, we’ll present a unified voice asking for:

  • A moratorium on high-risk development until hydrological concerns are resolved

  • A full environmental reassessment tied to legal lake levels and groundwater behavior

  • Transparent fiscal disclosures around infrastructure and stormwater management

Residents will have access to visual briefings, memo templates, and curated talking points to support public comment, letters to officials, and legal review if necessary."

Phase 4: Sustain Momentum

Objective: Keep residents informed and invested.

  • Provide monthly updates with rainfall, elevation data, and board activity

  • Collect feedback and crowdsource new advocacy ideas

  • Celebrate wins publicly and highlight individual contributions
