TEXAS TOWNSHIP CEMETERIES

Texas Township pioneer history, scattered among several historical books, may be pieced together to help illustrate their determination to succeed. Many came worldwide by steamboats, primarily after the Erie Canal was complete.

The Hope and Virgo families were large farming families, with one on the east (8th Street) and the other on the west (S Avenue.) Biographer "Chapman Bros" wrote of both families in their 1892 book Portrait and Biographical Record of Kalamazoo, Allegan, and Van Buren Counties. The families were living at the time the book was published. Shown are their stories from the 1892 account.
