PREIN & NEWHOFF UPDATE

  • Crooked Lake was 1.7 inch above the legal lake level as of 3/26/25.

  • Eagle Lake was 3.5 inches above the legal lake level as of 3/26/25.

  • Both pumps are operating as of 3/26/25.

  • There has been 0.0 inches of precipitation over the 7 days prior.

PREIN & NEWHOF UPDATE

  •  Crooked Lake was 2.3 inch above the legal lake level as of 3/19/25.

  • Eagle Lake was 4.1 inches above the legal lake level as of 3/19/25.

  • Both pumps are operating as of 3/19/25.

  • There has been 0.2 inches of precipitation over the 7 days prior.

  • Crooked Lake was 1.9 inches above the legal lake level as of 3/7/25.

  • Eagle Lake was 3.1 inches above the legal lake level as of 3/7/25.

  • Both pumps are operating as of 3/7/25.

  • There has been ~0.5 inches of precipitation over the 12 days prior.

  • Crooked Lake was 0.4 inches above the legal lake level as of 2/24/25.

  • Eagle Lake was 4.8 inches above the legal lake level as of 2/24/25.

  • Both pumps are operating as of 2/24/25.

  • There has been ~0.1 inches of precipitation over the 7 days prior.

Crooked Lake was 2.7 inches above the legal lake level as of 1/3/25.

  • Eagle Lake was 4.7 inches above the legal lake level as of 1/8/25.

  • There has been ~0.4 inches of precipitation over the last 7 days prior.

PREIN & NEWHOF UPDATE

With the rain and melt that occurred on Friday, January 31, the Crooked Lake level reached an elevation of 895.46 on Saturday, February 1. The permit “pump on” level is 895.45. The Crooked Lake Flood Relief pump was turned on Saturday, February 1.

PREIN & NEWHOF UPDATE

  •  Crooked Lake was 2.6 inches above the legal lake level as of 1/23/25.

  • Eagle Lake was 0.2 inches above the legal lake level as of 1/23/25.

  • Eagle Lake pump is operating, Crooked Lake pump is not operating.

  • There has been ~0.61 inches of precipitation over the last 7 days.

 Construction Update:

  • Punch list items have been reviewed and there are a few minor items to be resolved.

  • The system is operational.

1/9/2025

ELTA BOARD UPDATE

  • Eagle Lake's water level has risen above the 4-inch threshold this week.

  • The Drain Commissioner, along with the Township, Prein, and Newhof, activated the pump for Eagle Lake on January 8, 2025.

  • Since this is the first time the water level has reached this height since the pumps became operational, residents have been inquiring about what happens next after the pump is turned on.

  • The Eagle Lake Texas Association (ELTA) has been in communication with Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), as well as Prein and Newhoff, the Township, and the Drain Office, and they hope to provide clarity soon.

  • As of this update, the collection of questions posed to lake associations remains unknown.

1/8/2025

PREIN & NEWHOF UPDATE

  • Crooked Lake was 2.7 inches above the legal lake level as of 1/3/25.

  • Eagle Lake was 5.2 inches above the legal lake level as of 1/8/25.

  • Eagle Lake is above the point where we are permitted to start pumping.

  • There has been 0.46 inches of precipitation over the last 7 days prior.

1/3/2025

ELTA BOARD UPDATE

Lake Level

  • Unofficial measurements are now 1.5" above the 4" threshold for pumping.  The unofficial spreadsheet is here. 

Lake Level Project

  • Kalamazoo Drain Commissioner Jason Wiersma noted that although the pumps are operational, the project is not yet complete.

  • Some landscaping work, a final walkthrough, and testing remain to be done, expected to wrap up in the spring.

  • Once finished, final costs can be calculated for the overall expenses.

  • The main takeaway is to "Wait for Spring" for the project's full completion, assessments, and final costs.

  • Both levels were below the point where we would start pumping.

  • There has been 0.5 inches of precipitation over the last 7 days prior.
